SHITS ME TO TEARS: Or Worse, EXPELLED Edition

Just rewatched Order of the Pheonix, and while it’s heaps better than I thought it was when I saw it at the movies (I may have been sitting in the front row/drunk), one thing is inescapable: Emma Watson is a pair of over-acting eyebrows, not an actress. Which makes for lulz, lulz that are extremely hot in a zomg-you-shouldn’t-be-thinking-that-at-least-not-until-after-movie-#4 sort of way. Take it away, Youtube:

The bit at 1:22 is amazingood.

What also shits me to tears? Music set to scenes from movies. Just please, for the love of God, leave your bedrooms, Youtubers…

To quote Katie, because, just like everything on this blog, this is all just a shamelessly way for me to remind you all that I have a book out, while broaching more popular subjects in the hope that Googlers find me and are so struck by my irresistable mix of unashamed charm and blatant hostility that they immediately rush out and by 700 copies of Loathing Lola: The world has gone to shit…

Hermoine won’t say it does show the eyebrow thing you’re talking about.

Still haven’t seen the Half-Blood Prince, but watched a show about wizard rock and other aspects of Potter fandom. Powerful stuff, that.

And of course Movie 4 is where Hermoine and Ron like each other and it turns into something more. One thing I do like about the ‘romance’ subplots is Ginny and Harry being together, but not necessarily the epilogue.

      ^ Really?

I always found the romance between Ginny and Harry a bit random and rushed. There didn’t seem to be any build-up to it. But I guess it’s just me.

William, a friend turned me on to your book after browsing a book section at a library. He said you were quite snarky and he enjoyed your writing style. I haven’t read your book yet, but I will soon.

I agree with Jack, the Harry/Ginny romance is lolariously rushed and handled witht he subtlety of a jackhammer… It all just reeked of “They must fall in love because Harry and Hermione can’t work because thent hey all wouldn’t couple-off neatly, unless Ron ended up with Ginny”.

I look forward to hearing what you thinkk of LOLA, Jack.

    Day of Reckoning: MAGNUM OPUS

Feeling: equal parts nervous and excited.
Listening to: that song the Black Eyed Peas ripped off on their new album, ‘Mancry’ by Freeland.

Today’s the big day. I pitched Magnum Opus, novel #2 to my publisher.

I know I’ve been slack with the blog, my bad. I’ve been writing heaps, and I keep delaying blogging. But now, the day I’ve been holding off for a good month, has arrived, and so, it’s worth a commemorative blogpost.

Now, it’s one thing to be a published author, and quite another to stay published, so I always get nervous when pitching new ideas. Loathing Lola wasn’t a Harry Potter-esque $ucce$$ that guarantees that whatever I write next will be published, so I had to be 100% sure this was perfect before pitching it.  Magnum Opus has been brewing for five years, full-time for one, and I absolutely love it, but that doesn’t mean that others will.

So, now, I’m left waiting, ready for the Powers That Be to choose the story’s fate. If they give it the thumbs-down, what then? Do I seek out other publishers, or do I let the idea die? I don’t think I’m ready to consider that question just yet…

Here’s hoping I never have to.

    I’ve been M.I.A…

Big update coming soon, I’m preparing a pitch to my publisher / running around promoting Lola

I’m speaking at Bowen Library tomorrow, 4p.m., so if you live in Sydney’s East, drop by :-)
